The one consistent truth about our Massage Therapists is we are all driven to be of service. We are devoted to relieving suffering and improving the quality of life of others.
As for methods we are very diverse. Some are very evidence-based, western medicine oriented, others more Traditional Chinese Medicine oriented, while some are more yogic in their approach, and others still are more athletic performance centered. That diversity is a benefit of having had 3 wonderful massage schools in our rural area, Heartwood Institute since 1978, Loving Hands Institute since the mid 1980's, and the Arcata School of Massage, 2004 to 2017. In addition to substantial education in Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology, and multiple technique paths, each school contributed its own unique character to the local healing arts community and has supported much cross-pollination of techniques and ideas between therapists. Many of us have work experience with physical therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors and various other health care settings, or have been certified as yoga instructors, doulas, personal trainers, or life coaches.
In contrast to our universal attraction to the healing arts, few of us enjoy the scheduling, billing, and promotion that is essential to be successful in business. Massage Village takes on those functions to nurture and liberate our local massage professionals to do what they know and love, while ultimately focusing on finding the right massage therapist for you in a timely manner, at a reasonable price.
All Massage Village professionals have been verified to meet local licensing requirements, current insurance, and have been reviewed for skills and professionalism through peer based assessment. These are the people we trust, and want to get a massage from.
